Microsoft is offering free Web hosting to students of the United Kingdom. Reason? Well it’s simple enough. Linux/Apache based hosting is pretty much cheap but Windows hosting is unaffordable for the students. All you need is a .ac.uk (Academic UK domain) email address to get a promotional code. You can get the promotional code by posting a comment in Ed Dunhill’s Blog or by sending an email.

The UK students will enjoy these features for free:

• Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, 500 MB disk space.
• SQL Server 2005 database.
• Support for ASP.NET 2.0, .NET 3.5, classic ASP and PHP.

Well, I’ve only one question for Microsoft. Don’t we (the Indian students) deserve free hosting?
