The Techies Realm ‘Operating Systems’ Poll’ is complete & the result is a shocker!
Yes, I am amazed at the results. We have been hearing from internet forums & blogs that Windows Vista is a flop & Windows XP users are finding it difficult to migrate to Windows Vista. If you are the one who also thinks the same, then get ready for a shocker! Yes, you’ll stare with dis-belief at the results.
The Poll results also paint the picture of Microsoft loosing the overall share to Apple Macintosh & Linux Distributions. However, before anti-MS groups start celebrating I would like to make it clear that they still have a long way to go & I personally believe that Windows Vista will gain more share in coming months.
The Survey Results:

Got the shock? Not even a single vote for Windows XP! Yes, I am in dis-belief too. I don’t have any idea why no one voted for Windows XP. However in the real world Windows XP, I believe, is still very much existent today. Therefore, I guess, these results show the picture of coming months as people are getting used to Windows Vista.
So what do you make out of the results? Here’s what I can make out of it:
-
Microsoft Windows Vista is the leader with 57% of the voting.
-
Apple Macintosh got 22% of the votes & Linux Distributions got 21% of the votes.
-
Linux & Macintosh are gaining popularity. They together make 43% of the O.S. share.
Microsoft should rethink it’s strategies before they get a cut throat competition from Apple & Linux. Linux distros, particularly Ubuntu, have dented the share of Windows. Canonical is shipping free Ubuntu O.S. media & with Ubuntu Hardy just released, it will further charge up the competition.
In the end all I can say is- Pull up your socks & get ready for a fierce competition in coming years & consumers will surely benefit!
